Our Brangus herd was started in 2002 with cattle from the herds of Ferdie Naude, the Elandspruit herd of Schalk van Oudshoorn and the Deltaque and Sterkspoor herds of the Delports. Our aim is to breed medium framed smooth coated Brangus without a sheath. Our experience with Angus cattle allows us to add muscle and capacity to the Brangus cattle and also to improve teat and udder quality. We pay special attention to improving the carcass quality of our Brangus.
A major boost for the herd was the purchase of the supreme National Champion Red Brangus bull Deltaque DOI-599 at the National Show during 2006. 599 has bred exceptionally well and his progeny are highly sought after. He is structurally sound, has excellent growth EBV’s and high maternal. Embryo transfer is utilised to maximize our Brangus gene pool.
